90* AC plug w/ IEC
« on: 27 Jul 2005, 12:57 pm »
Does anyone know where to get a short power cable with a 90* or very low profile plug on the AC side?  I have a friend that needs one for a projector... and the AC plug is getting in the way.

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks,
Carl

Carlman,

I don't know how "good" this powercord has to be, but could you put an IEC end to one of those heavy duty extension cord that has a 90 degree AC plug?

Carlman:   We build them.   I bought a bunch for Doc B. & Bottlehead who wanted a 90 degree for his line of gear.

They are essentially the same price as our standard Asylum Cord.

You can buy a 90º AC plug and reterminate your current cord too.  takefiveaudio.com I know sells some, there are probably various others.  I seem to remember an electronic site that sold volex like power cords with 90º plugs on them.  I could look it up if you are looking for cheap and easy solution.

P.S.  the º symbol can be made by holding down the "alt" key and typing "167".  One of those useless things I somehow have memorized.

Josh, thañks.  For some reason I can never remember the alt key for º.  I cañ always remember the little used ñ key.  the 1/4 and 1/2 are especially useful too... but I can never remember which number they are either. :(

'Cheap and easy' are the exact words I'd use to describe this requirement.  Volex would be ideal.  I looked on Mouser, Digikey.. but couldn't find it easily.. Work has been very taxing lately so I only get a few seconds at a time to look up things and 'play' ;)

Thanks for the suggestions!  The extension cord idea sounds good too... cheap and custom... And if he wants 'good-custom', I'll tell him to call Kevin.

Thanks,
Carl
