I now have my first real VMPS speakers, having bought a pair of RM-1's with a blown tweeter.  Not sure when I'll get around to replacing the tweeter and tracking down what the previous owner described as a "problem" in the crossover that caused the mid pot and tweeter to blow, but when I do I'll be chiming in with my 2 cents worth.  Actually, I did a quick reveiw of the XO and can't see anything out of order, so perhaps the previous owner may have been a bit agressive when driving them...

Which tweeter is it? The FST or the spiral ribbon?

It's the spiral ribbon.

I have two pair sitting here from when I upgrade to the FSTs.  PM me your address again and I'll send you a pair.

Welcome to the VMPS Club, and look at that, you already scored the tweet you needed (Hey Josh :thumb: )

I don't think I have ever heard of anyone "blowing" a spiral tweeter, or a Neopanel.  Must have been a "special"  :bomb: signal to do that.

In any event, welcome, and let us know how they are when back up and operating.

Thanks John.  Actually the mid panel is OK, it's the MR pot that is fried.  It looks like a pretty generic pot, but I'll make sure I get a "genuine" VMPS pot as a replacement.

I fried a couple pots early in my VMPS days, by plugging a High Powered amp into a silly little Monster Power Center, and Clipping it for about 30 seconds on the "1812 Overature"

Actually the L-pads are almost like a speaker protection device, but they can be melted if you drive your speakers with a welding rig, like I was

Solder gun, and some hot glue, and your good to go.

Post Brian, he'll send you a replacement.
