Just received my Sherwood NewCastle SD860 and right up front is seems a great bargain.  (retail list $450)

There is a "Video Upgraded" version coming in about 30 days called the SD871 which had HDMI and Faroudja chip ($800)

So far the SD860 has been very impressive in SACD. DVDA, and Redbook play.  I have this in my Audio System so I won't be commenting on the Video section.

It also allows you to disable and shut down both Video and Digital circuits, so as to have either "Pure Digital" or "Pure Analog" functions.

I'll put 50-100 hours on before commenting on the sonics.

Straight out of the box, it bests my former Denon 2200 by a good bit.

I posted here since I am a Sherwood NewCastle Dealer.

Jon,

Thanks for the comments on the universals. I have been mildly interested in the Newcastle 2 channel receiver as a backup for my current system. Have you had a chance to listen to it?

Thanks
Dennis

Hi Carlos,

No DVI that I know of.  I'll PM you with courtesy pricing to AC members

Considering what is out there in stereo receivers now, this one is amoung the best.  It equals or betters the HK at a lower price.

For $300 list is won't bring an audiophile to tears, but it will certainly be better than most offerings in power and good clean sound.
