I want to retain the control aspect of the pot and am wondering if these units would be a significant improvement over the stock units.  If so, what impedance should they be ordered with?

P.S.  Will this void warranty?

The DACT CT2 was designed for small signal so there is a limitation to how much current the Elma switch inside the CT2 can conduct.  From the DACT website, the CT2/CT1 can conduct the following current without significant loss.

2V/2A
24V/0.6A
42V/0.4A

IMHO, the CT2 cannot be used as LPAD attennuator for speaker level signal.

If you are handy, you can easily get a high conducting current switch with a lot of positions (iel..24, 48 ) and build a high quality LPAD using high wattage rating resistors.

Ditto.... the CT2s are for line level signals only.

Kevin,

Glad you chimed in.  Do you have a high current stepped attenuator kit or parts for making such?

Not at the moment.   Some of the Shalco switches are big and beefy but I've never researched it in detail.    It is something I get a request for on occasion.   Not so much that I've ever had the urge to find a product to fill the niche.  :-)
