Anybody have first hand experience with this player.  I almost always like Arcam stuff and I need progressive DVD video and Redbook CD playback in both my systems and this can be had new for $788 from http://www.hometheaterbythesea.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&DID=10&Product_ID=7244&CATID=64theatrebythesea and it looks interesting.  I have modded Toshiba 3950 that are good but I'm always looking.   Does this unit include the praised Wolfson DAC?

Haven't heard it, but Arcam makes a good-sounding product.  Weird decision that it's not hi-rez (DVD-A, SACD; you need the DV79 or 88 for DVD-A).  Yes, it has the Wolfson WM8740 DAC.  The picture on the link is NOT the 78; it's the twice as expensive 79....says HDMi and MLP, which are not part of the 78.

While a sonically competent player, remember that the layer change is abyssmal.  That would be a deal breaker for many.

Source?  I didn't see any reference to the Arcam in your other post on DVD players.

Thanks.

I have the DV79 in a showroom of mine and it plays redbook cd extrmely well, HDMI video superb, and DVD-A stunning.  Unfortunately, I have no knowledge of the '78.

A note of caution or a tip to the wise.  I'd call Audiophile Systems, LTD. to verify this dealer is an authorized ARCAM dealer.  We just received a very stringent e-mail from ASL regarding internet pricing.  Authorized dealers are NOT permitted to advertise a price below MAP.  I'd check to see if indeed they are authorized.

Go to www.aslgroup.com (click on ARCAM SCAM ALERT)

Your answer is there regarding the authenticity of this dealer.

Hi I'd been told that the Cambridge Azure 540D DVD will rival some $1000 players. I've heard this from a number of people.
