Minimum room size for 7.1 setup

Minimum room size for 7.1 setup

Can anyone tell me what is the min room size for a 7.1 setup? if the room is too small  :oops:  should I go for 5.1 instead of 7.1?

What size room do you have?

I've been running 7.2 in a rather small room for years. It works fine, but the lack of software that actually uses the rear centers is what makes me usually suggest that running a good 5.1 setup is the better way to go.

Supposing you can pull up to about 8' to the screen, I would guess you need another 6' to the back to put your rears.   I had to put my rear ones up high and needed more space but I think they can be closer if they are lower.
