An upgrade for the RM40 is the TRT dynacap for $1,200.00.  Do you really get $1,200.00 worth of improvement out of them?
For about a 25% increase in price I am wondering if I will get a 25% improvement in performance.  Since I am not in the position to A-B this, I have to depend upon your opinion.  Worth it or not? j

Not cost-effective on the RM30, where Auricaps make more sense, but TRT's are chosen by many RM40 owners and they do get their money's worth.

Why do you not believe it to be cost-effective on the RM30s?

So, spending more money on the RM40 over the RM30 helps justify spending $1200 on caps?  That's analogous to saying I should I purchase expensive performance tires for a Porsche, but not for a Corvette because it costs less.  :?

Based on your previous comments, I felt you were indicating there was less improvement in sound with the cap upgrade on the RM30s compared to the RM40s.  I'll assume that's not the case.

The improvement is the same on both systems.  $1200 represents one third the cost of the RM 30 but only one-forth the cost of the RM40.  So the TRT's are relatively more cost-effective on the bigger speaker.

Good tires are a good idea on any car.

What about those of us that care for the sound of the RM30 over the RM40?  Is the amount of labor / time the same in the upgrading (during manufacture) each speaker?

Don't sell yourself short. If a $1200 upgrade improves a $3800 speaker and the consumer is happy, it is money well spent.

Here is an example. My most popular modification lately has been EXtreme modifications to the ASL Hurricanes.
Cost of brand new amps = $5000
Cost of EXtreme modifications $5100+.

Every customer to date has been "Extremely" happy (sorry) with the modifications and all felt it was well worth the investment. So, if the $1200 cap modification brings a justifiable improvement to the RM30..........

There is no way to define "25%" improvement. "Improvement" is like "opinion", very subjective.

This is only my opinion.  I heard RM40 standard caps, then a week later heard RM40TRTs.  The TRT seemed super value & I was approximately the second or third RM40 owner with TRT upgrade.

Fast forward to RM30 premier: The RM30 standard caps (my current speaker) bettered RM40TRTs.

Still I'd add TRTs to 30s if money was available.  Only my 2c, YMMV.
