Getting out of tubes, what to do with them?
« on: 18 Nov 2025, 04:14 pm »
     Hello all,

If this post isn’t allowed, please let me know and I will remove it, or a moderator can.

I’ve been an audiophile for quite some time and have been happy with my current system, which has been stable for years. In the past, I owned a large number of amplifiers and other equipment, including some DIY pieces. I’m keeping my current EL34 integrated amplifier and a smaller, lower-quality EL34 amp, which means I have a substantial number of other tubes to offload. Many were purchased by me as NOS or lightly used.

I’ve been out of the audio forums for quite a while. Does anyone have advice on the best way or place to sell them, or where to post trade inquiries?  Is it best to just make an inventory list and post in the trading post, bundle, how best to incorporate possible trades?

Thanks,
Dan

First and foremost, you can post them here on Audiocircle in the Accessories section of our Trading Post.
https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?board=106.0

Next would be US Audio Mart, also under Accessories.

There's always eBay but that may more trouble than it's worth.

I thought about doing this, but the biggest issue seems to be if you lack a good tube tester, it's often difficult to estimate the sale price.

   Thanks all

I'll have to get an inventory together, it may take me a while.  I have wondered about testing also.  I do have a tube tester, but nothing calibrated, etc.

If you have NOS pairs and quads of desirable tubes you can send them to Vintage Tube Services in Michigan for testing and grading. Will cost a few dollars but will increase the value and saleability of your tubes.

Thanks for the advice...this will give me a good option to just putting them in my Precision model 10-12.

  Thanks!
