BR4 remote control repair?
« on: 7 Oct 2025, 07:39 pm »
Can the BR4 remote control be repaired?

I clumsily knocked mine off the end table next to my listening chair.

It fell about 18 inches to the floor and, since then, has not worked.

No observable damage, or even scratches, on the case, but dead as a doornail.

Any tips or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks, Joel.

I would first check to see if the Batttery is still good. It could have been jarred enough to stop working.......

When you replace the battery, make sure there is good contact on both terminals with the battery. Often one terminal is a flat metal tab on the other is a spring. If one of the terminals got compressed when the remote fell, the battery will not make contact at both ends.

I take it nothing rattles when you shake the remote.

Thank you, gentlemen, for your suggestions.

I've opened both ends of the BR4 and, although the remote was working fine before I knocked it off the table, there are no batteries inside.

Nor does what I see inside reveal anything like a spring to provide resistance against the battery.

Am now completely baffled. . .

If I remmeber correctly , the Battery is romoved by pulling out the little Circuit Board with Tweezers and you should then have no problem replacing Battery.  If there is no Battery, and it worked before, someone played a dirty trick on you...

Are we talking about one or two AAA batteries?

Or one (or more) of those flat-disc type of batteries that look like small coins?

Neither type is visible inside the remote.

Found this thread on replacing the batteries. Hopefully when you slide out the PCB you'll be able to tell if each AAA battery is making contact with metal on both the + and - ends of the battery.

Sorry I can't be of more help but I don't own one.

I had this happen. In my case, surprisingly, it lost its coding. I followed the instructions in the manual to recode and all has since been fine.
