Offering a set of Snell Type E IV audiophile speakers in excellent condition. A few marks here and there if you go looking for them. Grills excellent, unmarked. I bought them last year, the fellow I got them from got them from his brother, who was the original owner. I had them refoamed professionally by Brandon at "Speaker Repair & Reconing Center of Colorado." He did a great job with them, also checking for cone alignment.
To me what makes Snell speakers special is their voicing, they present detail not only on the top and bottom but convey texture in the midrange. I have heard speakers which are known to be hyper detailed, but even they lack this quality. Check the box for "speakers disappear in the room" quality. They aren't the only speaker that can do this, many high end speakers achieve this. What makes them unique in this sense is they more easily give the effect of soundstage going beyond the bounds of the speakers, rather than just in-between. No doubt this quality is aided by their rear firing tweeter, which has a level adjustment as well as an on/off switch. The two speakers have sequential serial numbers. Snell speakers are known to be matched, story goes that each pair has crossover adjusted so output levels are matched.
I purchased two sets of SuperSpikes isolation feet for these speakers, which are included in the sale. They decouple the speakers from the floor, increasing definition in the bottom end, upping over clarity, instrument placement, etc. Very much a worthy upgrade.
