BDA 3 issue
« on: 26 Sep 2025, 07:40 pm »
Hi folks,

I received a new BDA 3 in July and have issues as follows-

1- it drops its connection to my transport every 2nd or 3rd day before the transports starts playing. A power cycle usually fixes it
2- it drops connection to the transport while playing. Again, a power cycle fixes it
3- a few weeks back I had to disconnect from the mains for about 10 mins for it to work

Initially, I thought it was the transport getting issues, but the discs aren't skipping and there are no issues with the transport when connected direct to the pre amp. Secondly, I thought that it might have been the trigger power being an issue i.e. I have the DAC hanging off a power amp on a trigger cable, but removing the trigger hasn't helped.

The issue happens every 2nd day so a little frequent to be normal operation.

Any thoughts?

It would be helpful to know more about your transport and preamp. When you say the two work properly without the BDA3, are you using the transport's analog output, or does your preamp have a DAC?

What input are you using on the BDA-3?

If I had to guess based on the info you've provided, I'd suspect the cable between transport and BDA-3. But that's just a guess.

The CD to pre is connected via XLR. The CD to DAC cable is 2 months old maybe and a hi end Neotech NEVD 1001. Input connector on the BDA is the BNC and I have an RCA-BNC adapter on the transport end.

The fact that a full power recycle fixes the issue each time would point to something other than the cable. Is it typical for Bryston support not to answer as well as they havent replied to 2 emails.

Cheers James- there is a form page on the site that doesn't seem to work. Adam was in touch as soon as I logged it via the right web form.

Have turned off the upsampling to see if any changes too.
