Grant Fidelity 6SN7-SE Globes vs New Players - Ray Tubes & Linlai

Since 2019 I have used the 6SN7-SE Globe tubes from Grant Fidelity in my Modwright LS100 preamp. One has now failed so I need a replacement set and would definitely appreciate some guidance regarding manufacturers with which I am totally unfamiliar - Ray & Linlai tubes.

Nice audio system, fado!

I'm pretty sure I haven't heard Grant Fidelity globes, so I cannot offer an opinion there. I own the following brands of 6SN7 tubes: Shuguang (plain old ordinary, nothing special, but are long lived); Shuguang WE6SN7 (gold base); Linlai 6SN7, Linlai globes (blue), and a set of WE6SN7-plus red base tubes. I kinda think I have one other brand, but I haven't catalogued them all, and they're probably hidden in storage anyway.

I really like the Linlai tubes and the WE6SN7-plus in my amp and preamp. I haven't tried Ray tubes yet, but eventually will buy a quad (not in a hurry as I already have so many 6SN7 tubes).

The Modwright KWA 150 SE is a great amp! If I knew I would/could leave it in place without having to move it a couple times a year, I would have bought one a couple years ago. That sucker is heavy, and my back complained when I lifted it.  :cry: Ditto on your Apollo II speakers. I own their little brothers 'Apollos', and I still have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming. I'll wager you get really good music from your system.  :thumb:

6SN7 and 12SN7 are my favorites small tubes.
You would check with Andrey at GSTube.com for the Russian version 6H8C at a small price, I like the 6H8C because the low price to listen easy music.

Or the desirable 1578 MELZ, metal base at $42 each.
