HX800XLR3

Hey everyone,

I am updating the original bass column servo drivers with 4 x HX800 amps and 8 x SW-12-04 drivers. This is in a sealed tower x 2. Can someone tell me the wiring for this in a forward firing arrangement. There are 2 sets of Red/Black, and 2 sets of Yellow/Black. Red/Black for normal polarity, and Yellow/Black for reverse polarity. Thicker wires go to the Driver coils. Thinner wires to the sensing coils. Are we using all wiring for the driver connections with the exception of reversing the Yellow/Black driver coil connection for the forward firing drivers? Or, just the Red/Black in this case.

Thanks,

MAK

First question, by the 'original bass column' do you mean the original  Genesis G1 ( pre 2016 ) VS  the current Prime ?
Prime | Genesis Advanced Technologies | United States
G1 = sealed four 12" front and four 12" rear .
Prime = sealed six 12" front and six 12" rear .

Second question, The Genesis G1 main panels are dipole (ish) but  are  the bass column's  dipole or monopole  ?
I'm assuming  monopole because they are sealed , and an isobaric dipole ??? would simply be a waste of useful cone area.
Monopole = pretend all of your drivers are facing forward, ie.  front and rear drivers both push out simultaneously.

So, it looks like you are building  Two stack's  of  four Rythmik G22's
Rythmik Audio • Dual opposed 12" servo subwoofer G22

Now that's a much simpler question. How do I wire a single  HX800 amp to dual SW-12-04 sealed subwoofers?

OB H/W Frame Wiring Info / Diagrams

HX800 expanded
The dual amp HX800 has eight  connection wires, divided into two separate groups, amp #1 & #2 ,
Each amp has 2X main voice coil outputs AND 2x servo feedback inputs .

Thick Black  amp #1 :  +++ voice coil #1
Thick Yellow amp #1 : ---- voice coil #1
Thin Red        amp #1 : ++ servo feedback #1
Thin Black   amp  #1 : - -servo feedback #1

Thick Black   amp#2 :  +++ voice coil  #2
Thick Yellow amp #2 : ----  voice coil  #2
Thin Red         amp#2 : ++ servo feedback #2
Thin Black     amp#2 : --- servo feedback #2

Pretty straight forward ONCE you clue into the oddball color flip between voice and servo connections .

Hobbs and HAL am I missing anything ?

Marvin,

Thanks for the input.

Answers:

1. These are the Genesis 2 - 4 column system.

2.  There are 8 drivers total for the Bass columns. 4 per side. All 8 drivers fire forward. 12 inch drivers originally as are the replacements. There are no back side drivers as in the newer models. This system was the made in 1998. Each driver is in a sealed compartment with 1.6 cu.ft. Each column is 6 ft tall x 2. The wings have a 48 inch carver driver and many ring ribbon tweeters.

3. Left channel to one side column, and Right channel to the other.

4. Drivers are the SW-12-04. 2 drivers per 1 - HX800 amplifier. Total amplifiers is 4. Total drivers is 8

All drivers are firing in phase. Monoplole as you descibed it. So I want to make sure the connections are correct. The directions do not state that both sets of color coding is to be used. Only that the yellow is for reverse phase use.

Thank You,

MAK

Now that's a straight forward question
How do I wire a single  HX800 amp to dual in phase SW-12-04 woofers?

HX800 dual amp has eight op/ip wires and by coincidence, the dual drivers also have eight ip/op possible speaker connections .
This plate amp is two completely separate amp-op/servo-feedback circuits  with ONE minor exception ,
a shared common ground point, the Thick Yellow amp #1 = Thick Yellow amp #2. = driver ground.

Technically either one of the Yellow wires is sufficient for the  '----'  voice coil driver connection ,
but please, play it safe and Keep It Simple,  use all available HS800 wire pairs .
