@mithat
If you are reading this forum, would love to hear why the AVA Digital Preamp sounds so holographic as just a dac vs other dacs.  That really interests me.

I honestly can't say. :icon_surprised: With the DVA Digital Preamplifier, I simply tried to do everything as correctly as I was able. I suspect it's not any one thing that's responsible for its performance but rather a collection of everything. But since we didn't do any, "Let's replace this expensive way of doing <thing> with a cheaper alternative to see if makes things suck" experiments, I can't say this for sure.

That said, I can say for sure that the discrete opamp module used in the output stage is an important part of what you hear. Since the DVA Digital Preamp was released, I have tried to find an alternative to taking the discrete opamp route, because it's an expensive way to go about things. But so far, no usurpers. To be clear, I don't think there's anything magical about discrete opamps. It's really that I was able to design one that met my requirements.

Well that's good. But don't post about Vitus or Magico too much on that forum, or you'll get banned like me.

Not sure what that means, since Mike is a Magico dealer. Were you posting negatively about Magico?

I have been on the forum for a few years, and I have not witnessed people being banned for stating their opinions.

It is understandable that if you have been banned, you might harbor ill feelings. Hard to judge what happened when I only have one side of the story (actually, I don't even have that, because I don't know what you did to get banned). On rare occasions, I have seen people there (and on other forums) go beyond civil discussion and into infantile personal attacks, at which point I appreciate and utilize their "ignore" function.

All I did was offer my impressions of the behavior there currently (in my opinion).

My apologies to the OP for going off topic.

This is going back more than 10 years ago. But in the years since, the owner of AS has continued to trash me on his forum, and turned a blind eye to another notorious troll basically saying I belong in a padded cell. I wouldn't re-join that site if they paid me! 🤮 And yes in fairness to the OP, this will be my last post on this topic.
