BDP-3 VFD is very dark
« on: 31 May 2025, 03:50 pm »
Hello Bryston lovers out there.

I thougt the vacuum fluorescent display (VFD)  on my BDP-3 was totally gone. After looking very closely I do see that the text is there, only very weak. I managed to enter the brightness menu an can also see that there is a difference when i go through the different display settings. I also confirm the display is set to ON. Anyone else had the same issue and can point me in the right direction to get it fixed?

Hi!

I think you'll need to contact Bryston service support for this. Typically, VFDs will have a lifespan. The one used by Bryston is a rather good and expensive one so it should last a long while. That being said, there are other power suplpy -related components that can sometimes go, causing the display to lose its brightness.

Please to let know how this turns out for you!

Cheers - Antun
