Firing Up the Brystons
« on: 24 Apr 2025, 01:06 am »
Officially Retired today, so I fired up my mostly Bryston System as I work on welcoming the Big Rig back into my routine. Up until now I have been listening to Japanese Girl Metal on either my wireless Earbuds or Custom Studio headphones and the sound quality was excellent. However on the Brystons with the Model T & Paradigm Studio v2 I wasn't expecting so much heavy bass from this genre.

I had to dial back the bass tone control 2 notches to a comfortable level at approx. 92 to 95 DB A weighted.

Yes Earbuds sound excellent but the Brystons kicks 'em to the curb. :notworthy:

Congratulations on your retirement! Have you tried plugging any of the ports on the back of the Model T’s?

No.

I use my Model T's in an unconventional manner because my audio room is far from ideal, 11'x 25'x 8'.  Using reflected sound, aiming the T's at the back concrete long wall a phantom image projects off the front wall, I have the speakers 15 feet apart. It's comparable to sitting in front of an Imax screen.

In the past I used the short wall, but over time I strongly disliked the narrow image. For me the phantom image needs to be wide. My Paradigms I use for corner duty. These help to enhance the wide sound and reinforce the sound coming off the back wall. I also use a Yamaha mixer which gives me tone control, line level and gain level. :smoke:
