My Introduction
« on: 21 Apr 2025, 02:30 pm »
Greetings:

Thank you for letting me join. I have been into music since my sister got her first stereo in the late 60s. She listen to Motown (the Supremes mostly) and Folk (Herman's Hermits, The Monkees, etc.). My brother and I shared a room with bunkbeds. He got a Sound Design stereo from Santa Claus. He was into rock totally. He listened to Hawkwind, Tull, Skynyrd, Floyd, Pavlov's Dog (local StL band), Cactus, etc. He had Koss headphones that he would wear at night with the turntable on repeat. He is the only person that I have known to wear out the grooves on albums. Ironically the presents that he bought me were albums that HE  wanted.

I started seriously purchasing equipment while I was stationed in Germany. Rhein Main Airbase had a base exchange store completed dedicated to audio equipment. It was later updated to video with the first gigantic Betamax machines!

Recently i have returned to a dedicated home audio system. I started with Klipsch speakers, a new Pioneer receiver, CD player and turntable. Both new Pioneers purchased lasted slightly over 1 year, after the warranties expired   I now have purchased vintage equipment, a Dual CS 606 turntable, a Pioneer SC-780 receiver coupled with the new CD player and Klipsch  Speakers. I currently have approximately 100 albums and about the same amount of CDs.

Okay that's my story and I am sticking to it!      Marc

p.s. i thought the answer to the question "What do you call someone who posts unwanted messages on a forum (7 letters)?" was asshole

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.
