Hi,
I have been building sound systems off and on since the 80's.
My first good system was using an audio research D150 driving a stack of 3 Strathern ribbons per side. Magnapan MG2B for Mids driven by the Kenwood LMN07 Monoblock amplifiers and an audio pro sub woofer system. For pre-amps I was using AR SP6 and an Precision Fidelity tube preamp that was quite good. I had built the Waldren tube crossover from Audio Amateur magazine. I was using, and still have, a Michell GyroDec turntable with a Koetsu tonearm and an early Koetsu black moving coil cartridge which sounded amazing.
That system sounded amazing, the best I heard at that time (around 1986).
Years later with Wife Kids now I have 7 grandkids living with us. I would like to rebuild a system that is kid proof that has great sound, on a budget. I still have about 600 albums and hundreds of CD's but now find Spotify so much easier.
Thanks, Will
