The SR-96 was Marantz' best AV 6 channel receiver in the late '90s. It is THX certified, meaning it is guaranteed to meet the stringent performance requirements for a full THX theater system. It offers a solid 110 watts RMS per channel for the front 3 channels, 2 channels driven into 8 ohms, and 90 watts each for the 3 rear channels.
This includes the original programmable remote control. All in perfect or near perfect condition
The multichannel technology is very usable but somewhat dated, but normal 2 channel stereo operation sounds good. It weighs 32 lbs., mostly due to its massive power supply

This unit has one small scratch on the top edge shown in a picture, is otherwise in perfect condition.
I purchased this for an adult woman friend many years ago, and in truth she almost never used it, and decided it was just taking up space and gave it back to me. I'd use it myself if I had space for it. I doubt there are any cleaner, nearly unused SR-96s out there.
I checked it out in 2 channel mode with CDs, and FM. It has a bypass mode that cuts out tone controls, etc. while still allowing volume control. With high quality speakers, it is a good listen. Smooth, and powerful.
