Geek LPS4 is a linear power supply that has been designed to convert “dirty” AC power from wall outlets to “clean” DC power that is optimal for all high end electronic equipment especially digital-to-analog converters (DACs).
It has four 12 volt DC outputs.
This “clean” power has very low signal noise which improves the sonic quality of music, making it sound much more natural.
An additional benefit of the LPS4 is the ability to reduce the signal noise of the USB connection from the computer to the DAC, adding to the sonic improvements. Just connect your computer to the LPS4 using a USB cable, then connect LPS4 to any USB DAC using a second USB Cable. When you do this, LPS4 disconnects the 5V power coming over the USB cable from the computer and replaces it with clean (under 6uV noise) 5V power coming from its super-regulated power circuits.
Special note: With USB 2.0, cable length is very important. You cannot go longer that five meters in total length and expect consistent results. Because Geek LPS4 does not include a repeater or amplifier (due to noise concerns), the sum of the lengths of both the input and output USB cables cannot exceed five meters.
