I’m going to keep a close eye on this.

Looks like a nice piece of kit.   I hope it pans out for them as the Skoll has not due to a hum issue.  I wish I had known this was coming as I just bought a Gold Note PH-10 phono preamp which is just fabulous and well worth the money.

I, too, was going to get the PH-5 or 10 until I saw this. Now, I’m rethinking it.
The only downsides for me on the Gold Note were no tubes (which is not a hard no), but no mono button was discouraging. I don’t yet have a mono cartridge, so I wanted to use that feature until I did get one.
I wasn’t aware of chronic hum issues in the Skoll.

Gene, I too was wanting a tube phono preamp.  My system preamp uses 8 tubes.  It is a BAT VK51se but it really does not sound tubey.  I was looking at the Pro-ject phono tube box DS3 and was going to pull the trigger on it until I read the TAS review of the Gold Note.  I know the reviewer and he is very honest and his review of it was spot on.

I bought mine used for over half off so I jumped on it and it is worth every penny.  However, if I had known that schiit was going to come out with this new tube preamp, I would have bought one and returned it if I did not like it.  I wish that they has a 30 day return policy instead of 15 day, especially for tube gear as some tubes need 100 hours to break in fully.

The Skoll definitely has hum issues and there is no fix.  Still, it is a 300 dollar preamp and there is no way it will compete with the Gold Note.  Giant killers rarely live up to the name.  I am replacing a 500 Vista Audio phono preamp and it sounds great but it is humbled by the GN by a wide margin.

Looks interesting, but that's about it. Except for maybe the tubes, and the remote, I doubt it's going to really be any better at anything than the Darlington Labs MP8B and SU-7 combo, and at about the same cost.

Since I already have tubes in the line stage preamp, that part is covered. And, since I think a remote on a phono pre is actually kind of silly, it's also obviously not a big selling point, for me.

Yeah, no, probably not. I'll watch for reviews, but I'm not gonna sell a kidney to get another piece of Schiit. Well, maybe, just not one of mine.....

Looks like it could be a good kit. Lots of good 6922 options, and it also looks like it could do well with some mods (caps and rca connections come to mind) to improve things even further. Would like to see resistance loading go up to 1K mark for some carts, but nothing crazy there. All in all, it's nice to see they're not giving up on vinyl enthusiasts after stopping production their Sol.

Didn't Schiit fix the hum by moving the input to the other side away from the power in?
