Hello, and grumpy.
« on: 16 Feb 2025, 06:40 pm »
Hello gang,
Not much of a writer, but doing what I'm told, "upset at rules".
I'm 60, Retiring this year from teaching AP Calculus for the Last 34 years. I have been dabbling in audio sense I was a teenager.  Compare to most of you I'm not a die-hard Audiophile, but in my group of friends I am considered over the top with stereo/theater gear.
My audio gear, may need some improvement, but I am convinced it is the best for me and my listening.
Hafler 945 preamp
2 Hafler se240 amps
Magnepan III and Mag I
2 triad dual 8" sub
Currently Maggies need a new tweeter due to kid, wife and life happens.
Theater setup.
Built room back in 2010.
105" screen, Acoustic treated walls "measured from seating"
gear:
Subs  - dual 18" fi subs "Infinite baffle" powered by two Peavey 8.5c amps
6  bass shakers in seating powered by whatever I got amps.

Speakers Onix Rocket Fronts: 760,  Center:Rsc200, Rear 250 and sides axiom QS8
Pre-Amp: Marantz av7706 "NEVER AGAIN" hate it sounds like crap. :duh:  Going back to Emotiva.
AMPS: Rotel Rb-985 and Rb-980bx was swopping between these and a Crestron 1660-bridging 6 channels for main and center and using the rest of rears, sides and future atmos speakers.
I like my movies to BANG, if GODZILLA roars my entire house and neighbors "300ft away" has to feel and hear it. with my old emotiva this happened, now Marantz its like a mouse squeaking. 100% embarrassing when we have UCF or Movie nights with friends. "They even ask, what happened"

Cabin: Currently building a system for outdoor and inside. Inside: DIY a Floating shelf: 6 driver 6 tweeter SLA with 2 8" subs.

outside: who cares- lots of power-speakers and inground subs to annoy my neighbors.

Hope you found this tolerable to read. Writing, spelling, voice are all concerned a joke by everyone.

and yes, I did CHATGP this, but I didn't like it so your stuck with my version.
HATE THE VERICATION: next time ask calculus questions please.

Greetings & Welcome to AC 'grumpy'  :thumb:   fwiw the 'rules' & verification are there to keep out spammers & 'bots', which it has done pretty effectively since started. It benefits all in the long run, and it's not real likely there will be any AP calculus questions incorporated any time soon. Your here now, relax, get your 3 posts in so you have full access to the site features, and enjoy the viewing/info.

Thank you for your replies,
It was momentary lapse of thought, or maybe emotional control.

It is more of a facade in which I have been placed into.

Thank you.

I was hoping there was a DIY sectional. I will have to wait until I follow all the rules to get the search ability.

Welcome and nice gear.  You will find that this is one of the friendliest Audio forums around.  There are a lot of knowledgeable people here.
