Yes, that is what I mean. If I get facts that make sense and goes against my beliefs of course I change my mind. Only a pig-headed person does not change when presented with facts.

In retrospect, some of your old beliefs, that you changed, don’t they seem a bit silly to you now?

In your whole life have you ever changed one of your beliefs?

Yes I have. For example, I once believed that the evidence that my Linn LP12 was a superior turntable was because I could tap my foot to the beat better with it playing records than with other turntables. I once believed that analog recordings and digital photography was superior to digital. I no longer hold these beliefs. But I wouldn't say that I changed them by the power of pure will. Evidence and science did not hold those beliefs to be true and I couldn't deny it, so my beliefs changed even though I didn't actually consciously make a choice.

Trying to think of some now but struggling to think of any. The only ones that come to mind are what my head was filled with when I was a child by adults around me, that should know better.

Here are some things just in audio that I believed in the past that I now know were foolish:

Digital amps sound best because they measure so insanely well.
Solid state amps always sound better than tube amps
Driving speakers using an active crossover sounds better than speakers using passive crossovers
Open Baffle speakers have crappy bass
A cable cannot make a difference in sound quality

I was wrong on all of these things and feel pretty silly that I ever believed them.  And that's just the stuff in audio, haha.

I agree with all of this. And also crossover parts make a difference in sound quality.

I don’t think I have ever come across a digital amplifier, Class D yes. Class D is not digital, just fast switching of the signal so not digital.

Certainly, but the most consequential are not necessarily wholesale changes but more nuanced evolutions that have softened my worldview.
Audiophile specific, I quickly came to understand that I didn’t need to spend stupid money (user defined) to achieve good enough.  The whole idea of good enough wasn’t even a consideration.

I'm presently watching Part II after Part I and really enjoying the discussion, and information and knowledge that Danny is providing to the discussion with Jay. Will watch Part 3 next.

From the my personal perspective of someone who worked as a professional scientist (as a molecular biologist in Biotech) during my entire career, I find the information presented to be educational, informative, and valuable as it provides me knowledge, insight, and understanding with respect to effective loudspeaker design. Plus, I really love all the science that Danny goes into and shares with us.  8)

I just wanted to thank Danny for sharing his experience, knowledge and hard-won wisdom regarding loudspeaker design and engineering with us. It's very informative and helpful.

Thanks, Danny!

PS: I'll have to put up a post of how I used the statistical analysis program, JMP to analyze a DOE (Design Of Experiments, a very powerful statistical analysis approach based on ANOVA) that I used to effectively, using in-room frequency response data, integrate my REL subwoofer into my my 2-channel stereo system.

I hope Jay sends those Wilson SASHA DAWS. That will be a great upgrade and knowledge video.

I think he will.  I believe he is truly interested in how Danny improves speakers.  I think his YouTube audience will enjoy it also.

BrandonB he has zero reasons to send in the Sasha’s, even if the Sasha’s are upgraded to sound better. He has Magico Q7’s, don’t see him swapping out his Q7’s for a souped-up Sasha. Since he never keeps anything, why upgrade something he is going to sell on anyway.

He's a YouTuber. If the video gets a ton of views (and it probably will), it could be a small cost for a much higher return.

I was in the market for a great audio experience and was very confused on which speaker to purchase. I feel lucky to have gone with the with GR products. The presentation of analyzing and in depth explanation of the thought process in how to resolve is really appreciated  and makes me feel confident on my choice of product.

One way to look at this, when Jay sells his hand-me-downs, it "may" present a better deal for someone looking for that particular piece, who knows?

On the other hand, "IMO" huge expenditures do not equate to "better" sound, it really gets totally ridiculous, but some people still believe that old cliche' ....I don't.

Danny R. seems like a really nice, down-to-earth guy, I'm pretty sure Jay is a nice guy too, my opinion.

If Jay was presenting lesser-priced equipment he may get a different personal viewpoint, I say let him do his thing and move on, there is more important things in life to consider.
