B135 Cubed stuck in weird standby in-between mode
« on: 21 Jan 2025, 06:25 am »
Hi all,

I'm having some issues with my dad's amplifier in Argentina and to get it sent back to Canada for support the only practical way is for me to carry it with me on the plane. Carrying the amplifier with me won't be fun, so I'm trying to avoid it, if at all possible. I'm flying back to the US this Friday.

Quick summary of the issue: the amplifier seems to go by itself (remote in a completely separate room, inside a closet) from Standby to a weird in-between state where the Power led is white/yellow-ish and the Digital led (right below "Select") is green, all other lights are off. In this state, buttons don't do anything, including the power button. This has only happened when the amplifier is on standby. This has never happened when the amplifier was fully on.

Weird in-between state shown in picture:

The amplifier started working again for a little bit, but stopped working later. If there is a reliable way to "reset" the amplifier, we might want to try doing that for a while instead of taking it back to Canada for Bryston to inspect it. It seems like there is a way to "reset" the amplifier because we were able to get it working multiple times. But we haven't found a reliable way of doing it. It just happens randomly after a combination of key presses, usually involving Power and Mute.

Latest update, from early January:
We were able to get the amplifier working again after unplugging and plugging the amplifier multiple times and then pressing a combination of keys (rotating through D1 and D4 and then pressing Power and Mute at the same time). We were able to catch it on video (around 0:52): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UbqmFonC5urxaz4jFbxRBt8g0gTmgUsg/view?pli=1

Description of the problem:
What my dad described, this was in early December:
- Yesterday morning it was working fine. He turned it off when he was done listening to music.
- Yesterday, late in the evening he was going to turn it on but noticed 2 green lights, as if it was already on.
- He tried turning it off with the remote and it wouldn't, nothing happened.
- He tried turning it off manually (physical button) and nothing happened either. He also noticed the amplifier was cold.
- He unplugged it and plugged it again. Now the red light is on but the amplifier won't turn on. He tried both the remote and the button on the amplifier.
- He unplugged it for the night and went to sleep.
- He tried again this morning and it won't turn on.
- Fuse looks good.

Any ideas? Has anyone experienced anything similar?
