Hello from Minnesota
« on: 5 Jan 2025, 09:31 pm »
My wife says I’m “Dain Bramaged” (I think she’s right) so that’s where my user name comes from. Looking forward to see what I can find on Audio Circle.

I was born in the early 50s and I’ve been interested in audio reproduction since before I entered kindergarten, literally (I blame one of my fabulous older brothers for that). Ever since then I’ve always wanted a dedicated listening room when I grew up (which I haven’t done yet). When home theaters started getting popular, I thought I’d compromise and build a combination listening room/home theater. It took forever but I finally finished it about 3 months ago.

I’m married to the perfect woman as she lets me get away with murder when it comes to AV stuff. How can I not love her?!

I haven’t had a chance to look around the circles yet. Does anyone know of a circle for Marantz AV10 owners?

Welcome to AC from Woodbury MN.  Where are you located in MN? And what gear do you have?  My wife has put up with my hobby for years as well.  She still tolerates my doors for speakers, Magnepans in our family room.

Welcome aboard DB.
I don’t know about anyone else, but my wife of 35 years raised me from childhood and rewarded my good behavior/submission with some tolerance and deference to my few obsessions, including this one.
You’ll find the AC Industry Circles are populated by non mega consumer brands where you can connect directly with the people behind the product.
As such AC doesn’t have a specific circle for Marantz products but you will find just about anything discussed in the more general circles.  It’s been awhile since I lurked around the site, but my goto for other brand specific stuff is AVS Forum where you’ll find owner threads.  I poked around and didn’t find a Marantz owners thread.

FullRangeMan – Thanks for the link. Interesting reading for me.

I.GreyhoundFan – I’m in Albertville – Total opposite corner of the cities from you. Unfortunately I don’t have Maggies. Just bookshelves controlled by an AV10, which is why I’m wondering if there’s an owners circle here. Keeping my fingers crossed.

AllanS – Thanks for the info. Sorry to hear there’s not an AV10 circle, but still looks like an enjoyable place. Haven’t been to AVS in a while. I’ll try that next.

Phil A & ArthurDent – Thanks.

Albertville is a ways away.  If you ever plan on visiting the Twin Cities and you want to come by for a listen to my system, send me a personal message here.

I have several local audiophile buddies and we get together every now and then to audition gear, swap gear and more.  My system is a Pass Labs X250 amp, BAT VK51se tube preamp and a Luxman DAC along with a vintage 1970's TT, Magnepan 1.6 speakers and dual Martin Logan subs.  I control my music via a desktop computer that I built as a music server and it sits on the floor next to the stereo rack and I remote in via a laptop to control things.  I have 9 TB's of music besides vinyl.
