Hi, Terry, and welcome!
From what I remember, the DBX SF-5000 was a nice speaker for "active environments," rather than a specific space with a fixed listening position. They're what, about 25 years old, maybe?
Their design, with the two angled baffles, was intended to maintain a stereo image for a range of different listening positions, rather than for a single listening chair. They did that reasonably well, but in doing so they sacrificed the wide, deep, and enveloping soundstage that good "traditional" speakers deliver.
If you're looking for a pair of speakers for a traditional living room or TV room where there might be a few chairs and couches spaced around the perimeter, I'd guess they might be a good choice to refurbish, but if you want speakers for "serious" solo listening, I'd look elsewhere.
