Does the SX52b op amp compete...?
« on: 3 Dec 2024, 08:42 am »
Hi again, again.

Since it had been suggested to Replace all 12 op amps in my new system, and the corresponding related costs involved :o, I came upon these SX52b op amps via YouTube.  I have not been able to discover but 1 or 2 review/comments on them though, which leads me to ask here.
Anyone?
Thx,
Bob

Hi.
Just now saw your post
My experience is that the latest T.I. Burr Brown opamp chips are very close in performance to the discrete SX52B opamp. The main difference is increased noise in the discrete opamp.
If you are using multiples, you can save a substantial sum by sticking with the chips, such as OPA1642 and OPA1656.
I hope this helps anyone with a similar question.

What are the opamps you have now and in what gear in what positions?
If you just do it blindly, discrete opamps are not magic, and it's not impossible to end up with sonic results you actually prefer less.

Having said that, if you must have low-cost discrete op-amps, AkLIAM LC6 is a great option to SX52b.
