For sale: a pair of monoblock power amplifiers, made for me in November, 2020 by Apollon Audio. Components include Sonic Imagery ENH990-Ticha discrete operational amps in the input circuitry and PuriFi 1ET400A output modules (Class D). Apollon's specs for this amp include
* 450 watts @ 2 Ohms, 425 watts @ 4 ohms, 227 watts @ 8 ohms
* Frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz +/- 0.01 dB
* Low distortion: THD+N = 0.00017%
* Input impedance: 47 kilohms
* Gain: 26.5 dB
* Case dimensions: 230 × 282 × 104 mm (with feet) (9 × 11 × 4.1 inches)
* Weight: 7 kg (15.4 pounds) each
All weights and dimensions are approximate.
The user can change the discrete op amp modules to Sparkos Labs SS2590, which gives a warmer sound.
Input is balanced, one Neutrik XLR connector per amplifier. For unbalanced input, use adapter cables -- Benchmark Media Systems sells good ones, appropriately wired, at low cost.
Output is on Neutrik SpeakON connectors (one per amp). These are the lowest-distortion connectors available, easy to connect and disconnect, capable of high current, and with no possibility of short circuits. I will include a set of short cables (SpeakONs to BFA bananas) at no extra cost if buyer desires.
The output module used in this amp revolutionized the performance of audio amplifiers, offering lower distortion and noise, flatter frequency response, high efficiency, and low weight at lower cost than competing products. NAD has adapted it for use in their best products. I chose to buy my amps from Apollon because an ASR teardown of a similar Apollon amp showed excellent construction as far as reliability and safety. The amps are CE certified.
These don't just measure great -- they sound great. I've compared them to many class AB amps of similar or higher cost, and to my ears, the Apollons almost always came out on top. System changes means I no longer have a place for them.
They are in nice condition - I'd say at least 8/10. My original cost was $2,991 for the pair, plus US Customs fees. I am asking $1,400, which includes shipping to any US address. PayPal accepted. Ship from Portland, Oregon 97214. Local pickup OK.
