Greeting from the UK

Hello everyone,
It's good to be here after having some issues registering on the site. Who knew WAP2 is a lower case word?!
I came across the GR-Research youtube channel a little while back, and have been really enjoying watching Danny explain all the intricacies of crossover and speaker design.
I got into HiFi in 1995, purchasing a budget CD, Amp and speakers from RicherSounds. I don't remember what the models were now, but I was infected with the HiFi bug, and over the years have upgraded from an Arcam Alpha8R and Rotel RCD951, to a Densen B100 and B400+, and then a Densen B400XS with Transparent Audio Super cables and interconnects (all second hand, as I am not that wealthy!).
I was also handed down a pair of B&W DM3s from my dad, which were given to him by his Uncle Jack, who had bought them new.
They still sound amazing, even with a little bit of perishing on the woofers, but Danny put the thought of upgrading the crossover and showing them some love, and I have now purchased a pair of OE replacement woofers, in excellent condition.
I managed to find the crossover schematic, although mine don't have the inductor attached to the tweeter (I believe that was on the early models), and was thinking of replacing the capacitors too.
Was also wondering if it would be worthwhile replacing the iron core inductor on the woofer circuit, but have zero experience or real knowledge about stuff like this, and don't want to go messing things up, especially when they sound great anyway.
I also developed labyrinthitis several years ago, and am now deaf in one ear, so the effort/benefit ratio really isn't so great for me!
Anyway, it's nice to be here, and I'm looking forward to chatting about all things HiFI. Any advice on the DM3s also gratefully received!
Cheers
J-M

For some reason yeara a go I had labyrinthitis for a week or so, so doc cut me bread, cakes, cookies and flour products in general, such as pasta etc which solved the problem to my great relief.

That's good to hear. I'm glad things recovered. I would rather have lost an eye than be deaf with constant ringing in one ear!

I notice that you haven't received any answers to your crossover question yet. I'm certainly not an expert, but I've personally noted surprisingly significant  improvements in sound with high-end versus basic crossover components, and there are many supporters for the importance of only using air-core inductors. Of course, the orientation of inductors on a crossover is absolutely critical to minimize interactions. Best wishes!
