BR-20 USB Drive capability
« on: 8 Sep 2024, 10:42 am »

I’m getting very excited about acquiring a BR-20.

Looking at the manual in the Connecting Digital Source components section the table includes “Int. player” <= DSD128.

Does this mean the BR-20 can process DSD128 files stored in a USB drive connected to one of the blue USB Auxillary ports?

If so, are the files processed in DSD native mode as opposed to DSD over PCM?

I think the most impressive thing about the BR-20 is the astonishing 3D like reproduction of well recorded music

Well done Bryston

I think it’s native but maybe the expert can confirm that. To be honest I don’t hear a difference between DSD and a well recorded 24/96 or 24/192 PCM file but it is useful to play SACD rips in their native file without the need to convert them.
