I said this before.  I see all kind of request for DACless streamers and no storage.  There are people who just want to stream now with the increase in SQ.  PS Audio just came out with the Airlens that doesn't even have an interface  And the Moon Mind2 unit both around the $2K price point.  Ardivarna is also been released for linux so that can run on the SonicOrbiter OS.  Would there be a market for muscular BDP Pi 

Yes, that was a good post.  It should also be much cheaper that the BDP3, as Bryston has indicated before, there are major cost savings using the 1/3rd width chassis like they did with other products (Pi, BP2, PS3, etc).  I do like the full size chassis with the internal SATA drive but that is a luxury I could live without and there are much more affordable solutions.

SP3 cannot be built even if they wanted to.  This information is from Bryston tech support (I asked because I wanted one). 

A premium product needs modern HDMI (4K+) and network interfaces to properly integrate with a modern system.  No professional system integrator would touch it if it doesn't offer that, and these are the only type of dealers that stand a chance at selling such an expensive product today.

BDP3 days were numbered anyway.  There's only a finite number of motherboards for it available, if any.  What James said makes sense.  There can be more compact units the size of BDP-pi built with smaller boards.  The streamers in the BR20 and BDA3.14 are already examples of this.  They will all need modern software to run and stay relevant.  Only the BDP1 lacks the power to run the new OS3.

I have a first generation SP3 and I got around the issue of 4k HDMI by buying two Sony X800m2. I also upgraded my BDP2 to the BDP3 and now I have addition HDMI inputs as well as DSD which is indisspensibe to me. All my components match the SP3.
