This query is about classic AVA  modding service of Dyna components.
I recently acquired an orig. SCA-80 integrated amp and am interested in upgrading it to AVA classic modded specs. What are my options?
Send to AVA for mod? Order mod kit? Plans in Audio Basics? Etc.

Hello,

Audio by Van Alstine *AVA) no longer offers factory upgrades to Dyanaco or Hafler products.   For many years we designed our circuit boards so that they would fit in AVA, Dynaco and Hafler chassis designs, but when we changed to side mounted heatsinks we had to change the physical circuit board layout to fit the new heatsinks.  The only exception is the blank Ultimate 70 upgrade board for the Dynaco ST-70.  Note that we only sell the blank board and not the full kit.

Best Regards,

Yeah, I've known up the updatemydynaco projects for a while.
But my DIY familiarity is with AVA and AudioBasics. E.g., the PAT-4 project from AB nov 1986 applies to much of the sca80 as well (the preamp was all PAT-4; the amp was all st 80)
The SCA-80 -- which I just acquired 2nd hand -- is one of about 6-7 other vintage Dyna amps/preamps/tuner in my possession. My Pas 3 and ST -70 were modded in the mid 1980s with AVA kits.

Dyna still had s following in DIY an vintage gear circles.
AudioXpress has done a good deal to keep Dyna interest alive.

BTW: the $250 (pre-wired) sca80 in 1970 is worth $2,020 in 2024. Of course, that reveals only general conversion.
