Introduction

I am just getting started in the forum. I live in Tulsa, OK and have a entry level system centered around XL-S Encores. I am planning to upgrade to the NX-Opticas and use the forum to help and inspire with the build.

Welcome!  Have you been down to visit with Danny and Hobbs?  You're close enough to go for a listen to his NX-Tremes!

Welcome!  I’m new here too and to the hobby.

A recommendation: make a drive to Iowa Park and listen to what’s available.  It may prove to be time well spent and a data point for future speaker evaluations

On the 19th, three of us drove down from Tulsa specifically to listen to the NX Studios, and Danny was gracious with his time having the Studio Monitors ready but also making time to listen to the Xtremes. Certainly the Studio Monitors would have been a notable upgrade over the Encores, but we were all amazed at the performance of the Xtremes! It was then that I decided that I will be getting the Opticas. I will be ordering them in mid August. -Tom

Good for you, Tom!  I've sat in the same spot you did.  Those NX-Treme can be kinda spooky with the soundstage depth.  Danny says the Oticas sound very much the same, so you can't lose either way.

NX-Oticas are a great choice!  I have a pair and I am continually impressed at their clarity, tone and dynamics.  You will love them.
