My M750s arrived woohoo!

UPS seriously crunched a corner of one of the shipping boxes. I mean badly!
Thank God the AVA team does an awesome job packing them, using a very stout and protective foam to incase the amp in a "sub-frame". I cannot even imagine what UPS did to crunch that corner as badly as they did.

So, here they are. I really like the new design of the faceplate, with Audio by Van Alstine etched into the upper left and a very stylish "VA" etched into the bottom right ( kinda wished the VA was 30-40% bigger... ). A very classy, understated and appealing design. I like it much better than the faceplate on my Vision SET 400.

Haven't hooked 'em up yet. I have a lot of heavy stuff to move around, yet.

Congrats! Can't help but to notice a familiar heavy object in your photo - B&W 801? Running 1500 watts + of AVA power? What other treasures/heavy objects do you have in your system? Can't wait to hear your impressions of your M750's! Once again, congrats!

Thanks, Tom. Yeah, that is one of my beloved 801(s), I bought them a few years back from a guy who rebuilt/recapped, etc the crossovers. They were disconnected, and unceremoniously shoved back to the wall last summer. I cannot bring myself to sell them, they just sound so frigging good. In fact, they were how I was introduced to AVA. Was looking around for an amplifier to drive them and heard about Frank's stuff. So, I ended up getting a Vision SET 400 for them. An excellent pairing. Was kind of sad last night as I was disconnecting the 400 and pulling it out of the system. It is such an excellent sound that it helps produce.
I had a chance, last August, to get a killer pair of speakers from a reseller who didn't want to get caught holding 6 sets of the ( soon-to-be discontinued ) Revel Ultima Salon2. It was an agonizing decision to buy them; I went back and forth with it for days. Do it, no, you know you want to, no, okay, I'm gonna do it, no, and then finally I won, and bought them. Heavily marked down, but still, it was by far the most expensive audio purchase I've ever made. And Frank's 400 made them sing beautifully. But I knew they could handle and "crave" some massive power. Hence the decision to get the M750(s). Speaking of heavy, the Salons probably have 30 lbs on the 801s. I'll be moving a lotta heavy stuff today, making room for the amps, switching racks, etc. I need to move the 801s entirely out of that room.

Well. finally got the room semi-cleared up and everything ( mostly... ) hooked up.

The main thing I wanted to do was make sure there was nothing wrong after UPS did there BS. All's is good, no damage.

I have to say this, HOLY SHIT! The Salon2s, hooked up to these amps, are showing me a deeper look into the music. Unbelievable! The Vision SET 400 sounded really good with the Salons but this is a different presentation. At first is was a little startling. With the Vision everything was more upfront. Not too much, but noticeable. With the 750s, things are set back back a bit and once I got over the initial deal, I like it. A lot. It seems there is layers, and then more layers.
I often listen to densely constructed music; there is a lot going on with it. And this amp/speaker combination is a clarity thing. Every part of the whole can be followed, clearly, if I so choose, but still it all sounds so well put together. Music I have played many times and know intimately has become even more intimate. Wow!

So, the chain is an Audiolab CDT6000 to a Denafrips Pontus II DAC to a Bryston BP-26 to the M750s to the Salons. And it sounds frigging good! The amps seem to own the low end solidly, now. Noticeable but not overpowering. I was hoping that that would be the case. I knew these Revels had more in them.

Now if I can just get my streaming situation sorted I'll be real happy. Not used to playing discs this much. I'll figure it out.

Sounds like a winner! The extra horsepower+ has paid off. Enjoy and keep on writing. It's nice to see other people enjoy the musical experience afforded by the AVA gear.
