Hello can someone help me?
I am putting together an audio system, for two reasons.
I would like it to sound good
I want to show my grandson all the cool units we have had along the way.
I have;
Yamaha TSR-700 receiver
Denon 450 USB turn table
Definitive technology speakers
Sony CD player
Sony Reel to Reel
Pioneer reverb unit
BSR equalizer
Akai cassette
Looking for an 8 track
So I would like to hook all of this up with all the cool lights ETC
But I still want it to sound right.
Does anyone have an idea of how to do this?
Please let me know if you do
Thank you
Gary

Welcome!  The receiver manual has instructions for hooking up equipment - https://download.yamaha.com/files/tcm:39-1335568      Hifishark allows one to search for used gear like an 8 track player - https://www.hifishark.com/search?q=8+track+player

  • To whom more was given more will be required.

You could impress him with the CD player or the open reel and an Single Ended small tube amp into a hi efficiency speaker as Klipsch RF7.

I forgot one part

I also have an Adcom GFA-555

I was thinking maybe I would use this instead of the woofer amps on the definitive technology

Greetings!
Depending on how old your grandson is, he might enjoy experimenting with grandpa to see what it takes to make it work.
If the below reflects your TSR 700, you have enough inputs for the turntable (Phono), the cassette deck, reel to reel and 8 track into audio 5, 4, & 3, and CD player into audio 1 or 2.  If the CD player doesn’t have a digital output it’ll have to plug into audio 3, 4, or 5.
The problem will be the EQ and reverb unit.  Typically these type of signal processors rely on the preamplifier having a processor loop (processor out and in) or at least a tape monitor loop (tape monitor out and in).  These would allow the processors to manipulate any of the analog inputs (3, 4, 5, and phono).  You can still use them, but only one one of those 4 eg turntable > EQ > reverb > phono input.
You can plug the Adcom into the preout (section 7) but only if your speakers have two sets of binding posts.
Enjoy!

3 HDMI OUT jack

Most young people today are more into video than discrete audio systems, so you might want to consider taking advantage of the HDMI inputs on your receiver along with a DVD player and television also to get started. HDMI includes both the audio and video signals and and there is minimal setup required. Analog audio from LPs or tape sources is somewhat of an acquired taste, as the inherent noise takes some getting used to.

Thank you AllanS
I didn't even think about input #1 & #2
I have Definitive Tech BP2000 speakers which are Bi amp or they have an onboard amp
So what I was thinking was
Preamp plug out to the reverb and then the equalizer
then to the Adcom GF-555 II
That would go to the mid and the high on the def tech
Then I could bring  cables from the sub output to the sub in on the def tech
at least this way the reverb and the eq would work , if only for the mid and high
What do you think?
