Rehashing this topic.  What tube amps and pre amps were successful pairing with Nx Studios?

I looks like I am going to pick up the Nx Studios. I am still 6-8 months away from getting my Decware Torii Jr.  I made a mistake and didn’t order a preamp thru Decware at the time so I am looking at Mapletree.  Does anyone have any experience with Mapletree preamps?

how many sources you have? at least in the short term you could just use the volume controls on the Tori Jr. doesnt Decware sell a black box where that adds four source inputs? the wait time is less for those but dont know what the wait time is now. theres a zen ultra pre for sale on usaudiomart but its kinda huge.

For now only vinyl, I might add digital down the road.  I need RCA outs for subs.

Can you use high level inputs on your subs or switch to subs that have high level inputs (driven by the speaker binding posts)? Most tube preamplifiers have high output impedance by their nature. The last thing you want to do (in general) is to add something else for them to drive that will make that situation worse, especially a pair of long single ended cables going to subs.

If you have to use single ended cables for the subs and want a tube preamplifier, you could try one of the LTA Microzotl headamp/preamp models (very low output impedance and good transparency) or use a tube buffer like Modwright makes (also low output impedance) between your source and integrated amplifier. I do not know what the typical output impedance of Mapletree preamplifiers is.

I probably should have considered the preamp's impedance output and how it can affect subs.  I really like GR's subs but I read on Rythmik's website it's advised to use the high level connection on their amps as a last resort.

I will look into other preamps & buffers.

side note
I'm curious if other Nx Studio owners had great experiences with tube amps.

I run mine with Jolida integrated (yeah I know, big quality mismatch) and have very good results. Small room really meant I needed to stay away from anything with a bite, and even this amp could do that with the wrong tubes. But yes, I've really enjoyed with tubes and even better running a high pass filter around 75hz.

Yes, I drive the NX Studio Monitors with a Line Magnetic 218ia. 845 based SET at 22 watts per channel. The room is small, but I feel I could pull it off in a medium sized room as well. FWIW, supplemented by 2 REL subs with the Monitors running full range.
