Congratulations on acquiring the brand. I have always loved line source Electrostatics.

Do you have a website with pricing?

Thanks,

Rocket Ronny

I really liked this room when they showed the smaller speakers on Saturday.  I didn’t get around to listen to the larger speakers.  The CODA amp seemed to power both speakers nicely.  Hope that you’ll be at the Pacific Audio Fest in September.

Audiophile Junkie’s video mentioned the pricing to be MSRP $30K for the larger speakers. It was funny to run into him and his friends after coming out of a room.  Great guys!

Thank you for your kind words, We had a great time demonstrating both the flagship M35 and the second to flagship, M15s in the picture.  Finals are fundamentally different from the traditional electrostats in the market in design, materials and sound.  Let your ears be the judge as always! ☺

Please feel free to reach out through direct email so I can send you a detailed product presentation.

Looking forward to sharing all the unique ways, Finals are different!

I would love to demonstrate at Pacific Audio Fest which unfortunately is scheduled on the exact same days as CEDIA show where I intend to demonstrate FINAL's All Electrostatic Dolby ATMOS MultiChannel Speaker system complete with height speakers!

San Francisco / California audio show is possible as well in July.

If you can demo in SF audio show - that would be great.  Thanks for the audition at the show.

I might be free Saturday to take a listen.  Emeryville isn’t too far from me.

May I ask what pre/pro and amplification will be used in the multi-channel room?  Thanks!

Wonderful, looking forward to meeting you along with other audiophiles at the show,

Sony STR-AZ70000ES with Coda Class A/AB amplification and Tekton Design 4-10 Line Array Subwoofers for a 7.2.4 All Electrostatic system

Having owned a Trinnov Altitude before, I can vouch for the Sony's incredible 360 Spatial Audio Mapping technology to create a seamless high resolution bubble of sound on par with the best of the processors!

I would invite anyone considering Final Audio products to read this thread on facebook about other's experiences with the brand, past, and more importantly, present...

The Facebook discussion appears to be a number of people in the US and Europe sharing information and positive impressions of the speakers. I'm only noting that because the post above is ambiguous and could be read to imply that there is a controversy or adverse information about the speakers percolating in a Facebook thread.

The post above wasn't meant to be ambiguous- there are both positive and negative comments made about Final's previous products, as well as their current products and business practices. I would suggest reading the complete thread and all the comments.

The Final ESLs use an inverted drive, which yields higher output but also higher distortion than non-inverted ESLs, and owners of their earlier models have reported reliability problems.

An upside with the Finals is that the stators are clear plastic with a conductive coating on their inner surface receiving a low-amperage DC bias voltage, hence are VERY SAFE, with no concerns about touching the stators while they are playing.

A conventional ESL applies a constant DC biasing voltage onto a high-resistance diaphragm, which is reacted on by AC drive voltages (from the amp/transformer) applied to the stators, to make sound.  To limit charge migration and maintain a constant charge and equal drive force across the diaphragm, its resistance should ideally be high--- about 1 MOhm.  Such an ESL is said to operate in constant charge mode, and will have extremely low distortion.

Conversely, an inverted drive ESL applies the AC voltage directly onto a low-resistance diaphragm, which reacts against a DC biasing voltage applied to the stators, to make sound.  In this case; the diaphragm must have low resistance to conduct the much higher-amperage drive voltage.  Such an ESL is said to operate in constant voltage mode, which provides higher output but also higher distortion (primarily harmonic).

Harmonic distortion isn't extremely high in an inverted ESL, and isn't nearly as obvious or objectionable as [let's say] intermodulation distortion, and by all accounts the Final speakers sound really good.  I would also speculate that a tall line source ESL like the Final would have amazing imaging.

Of concern is that inverted drive ESLs, including earlier Final versions, have been prone to failure due to the high-amperage drive signal being applied directly onto a fragile diaphragm.  Final has gone through a lot of development since their inception so perhaps their earlier reliability issues have been resolved.  A solid warranty from a stable company would ease that concern.

If you want the real skinny on inverted ESLs, there's more info and hard data in this thread:

Enjoy!

Yes, there were issues with the earlier Final products and they went out of business. The new incarnation is unproven but given the negative experiences of prior owners who were left with inoperative products and no way to secure any service, there seems to be a lot of wariness within the European market, which is expressed in the thread on facebook linked above. Also, it bears keeping in mind that the product is again being produced in Europe- any idea what it would cost to ship a crate of speakers to and from the Netherlands for repair?

Additionally, their business practices have been called into question in the facebook thread- I suggest reading the complete thread for details.
