Hi Mariusz Uszynski, thanks for your suggestion I have heard good things about Vicoustic.
I have very much made up my mind I will be going for Acoustic Fields once everything else I need to do is done.
I have already made a mistake going cheap with GIK, I don’t want to make a mistake next time as that would be silly. GIK looks good, but only of average performance Vicoustic looks more of the same.
Acoustic Fields guarantee their own work as long as you carry out everything according to their design, I would rather pay more and if they screw up they will fix it or give me my money back. This way I get something that works or my money back.

Gave up trying to switch to near field listening in my new house/room.  Just picked up a pair of Apple Maxx  (wireless/noise cancelling) headphones to use with my MacBook Air M2 laptop and hearing aids.  We'll see how it goes.  Had headphones in the dorms.

New room:  8ft x 9.67ft x 12.08ft.  Furnished with 2-drawer file cabinet, 6ft long desk, two 2.5ft x 6ft bookcases, casual chair with ottoman, and small equipment rack.  Audio gear:  Buchardt A500SE active monitors plus tri-legged stands and Primare SC15 wireless server.  Set up went from 7ft mid field triangle to 3ft near field triangle.

Oh wow JLM, that is a small space.

Just one silly question, do you need all those extra bits in your room? Are you able to store them elsewhere? Only saying, as not having them there will give you some working room to play with.

I see the Buchardt has a passive radiator on the back. I guess you can try and move the speakers a bit closer to the front wall which will re-enforce your bass a bit but that will mess with your image depth, but it may be workable to give you more distance between you and the speakers.

This is my studio, combo office and listening room, so no I've already pared down to the minimum.

The Buchardt A500SE uses two active Purifi PTT6.5M04-NFA-01 6.5 inch drivers, one in the front and one facing rearward.  With their master tunings they can create a cardioid effect to negate rear wall bass reflection.

With my hearing loss and hearing aids the Apple AirPods Max provide sufficient fidelity.

Toocool4, did the GIK panels make a noticeable differance? Lucky you, only 2 weeks without system. Mine has been in storage 1 1/2 years due to family needing a place. They moved out last week end so YES, my rigs coming back.

WGH, very impressive transformation. Been there done that 2 times in my 30 year old house. 1st time was a clean slate 2nd time wifey wanted update.

JLM, ouch on the downsize. Just for kicks, wife & I checked a few downsize homes. Bless her heart she said " We ll need a music room" :)

BikeFi10, in my new house the ones that made the biggest difference are the one at first reflection points. I have since removed the front scatter plates which made a big difference, to be honest I only needed absorber at those locations. The scatter plates on the side reflection points only confused the image. By removing the scatter plates, the image became deeper.
Still a lot more work to do but will not be using GIK for that.

In my old room, 8ft x 13ft x 21ft (Greek Golden rectangle), my ten GIK 2ft x 4ft 244 panels were minimally effective but in other settings they made immediate improvements.

Tomorrow Ill start setting up my system. Musichall mmf 9.1 tt, Soundsmith Zephyr lll cart, Bluesound Node 2i streamer w ext. lps & dac, Carver pre amp, Odyssey Stratos amp, Magnepan 1.7i speakers.
In last setup soundstage could be very good depending on recording, but never achieved "speaker disappearance".
It is a fairly lively room. I tried "poor man" absorbtion with blankets at 1st pts of reflections which helped livelyness a bit.
Im thinking about diy quadratic diffusers for front wall behind planars. Considering about 700hz to 3khz frequency range.
Any comments on this or how I can make speakers "disappear" . No silly jokes please.
Ill try to attach old pic of speaker stand mods. May give abetter idea of room.

Also, speakers about 4' from front wall, about 6' from either side walls, about 8' apart center to center and 8' to 9' from LP.
There is about 16' of open room with minimal furniture behind LP.  Whole room 20' x 30' x 7 1/2'. Big leather couch and love seat gone. Now, 2 Ikea lite padded chairs w foot rests, end table & lamp, 3 floating shelfs with miscelanious items.

BikeFi10, I find getting speakers as far away from all walls / having nothing in between the speaker and nothing between the speakers and your listening position helps the speakers disappear.

I am looking at Acoustic Fields products to treat my room, since all the kit is very pricy and will have to be shipped from American to England that would add extra expense. I decided to have a look at their DIY solution as I have a friend who is a carpenter, he could give me pointers in making what I need.
They happen to be having a sale at the moment on their DIY plans, so I jumped on the All in one Acoustic Treatment build plans. At the moment they are $49 instead of $299.95.

I will still have to buy some of the materials from them, but making the quadratic diffusers, I can source the wood locally. Let’s see how I get on with this, looking to make some QD – 11’s for the middle of the front wall and some QD – 7’s for the back wall.

Diffusers are limited by the laws of physics to above 1100 Hz for 7.5 inch deep designs.  Most retail diffusers use cheap plastics that can't reflect sound waves.  The best design I found was a DIY using 2 inch square wooden blocks in the 2 dimensional quadratic pattern.  They were fairly heavy, about 22 pounds for an 18 inch by 18 inch patch.  Recommend painting them to maximize their effectiveness.

Sorry about the sideways pix. My smartphone techniques need help.

Forgot to include Rythmik servo sub. May look into bass traps too as very deep bass gets boomy at times.

Anyway, that looks like a great price for the Accustic Fields plan. Let us know results.

I just want a quick, easy and inexpense project as my time is very limited and I have big poly caps waiting to upgrade the xo's in the 1.7i s. Im considering a project on diyaudio by bwaslo 2015-2-7. I do question the freq range he gives 400hz to 8k hz. Seems like deeper and much narrower wells needed for that range, but others who built it claimed noticeable results.
As my 1.7i  planars radiate from the back. I think a rear diffuser is a worthwhile start for room treatment.
