CA1 users, what are your impressions?
« on: 27 Jun 2024, 12:38 pm »
Because the CA1 is such a new product, to date there aren't a lot of comprehensive reviews from critics (waiting for Audiophiliac) nor impressions from users. I'd love to read what the initial impressions are from early customers. Warm, neutral, other? Power and gain? Driving nominal 6 or 8 ohms? Phono stage? Do you miss a Sub Out? Remote operation of motorized volume? Other thoughts?

All opinions are appreciated.

Thank you,
John

Thanks Anand!

Yes, I've read through that thread. I'm just hoping to get as many impressions as possible from current users.

Maybe I will ask Frank if he would like me to review his new amps.  I am finally at a point where I can start doing reviews of equipment again.  Life has been too busy the last 2 years.

That would be great!

The more quality reviews and honest opinions, the better.

I am an AVA owner.  I live 3 minutes from Frank.  He has asked me on many occasions to review his gear since I own 2 pieces of kit from him and also own a BAT preamp, Pass Labs amp and a Luxman DAC.  My reviews can be found in the AVA circle.  I also did a review for Exogal and their Comet DAC.  I have had some health issues the last 3 years due to a serious bicycle accident and was hospitalized and had surgery.  I am back to normal but need a knee replacement as a result of the bike accident.

Frank has asked me to do a review several months back but I just was not up to.  I am now and if Frank asks me again I would be happy to do a review.  I usually invite several audiophile guys over to help in the reviews.  Vista Audio may send me an integrated amp to review sometime in the next few months.

Best Regards,

Larry

Larry,
I would be interested in your view on the CA1 as a one-box solution. I think the market is hot, for new audiophiles, those looking for value, as well as older ones like me who have downsized. Feedback on the amp itself, magnetic phono input, or from line sources (a digital source) is always enlightening. I read your reviews on the other AVA gear and found them to contain the data points I am most interested in. I raved (and still rave) about my SET120 for how it produces music. For me that's the goal. To produce a live performance, to provide emotion of the performance, to sit back and smile. Thank you, Tom
