How to Use IC's in a Point-to-Point build?
« on: 27 May 2024, 04:44 pm »
Considering building a P2P tube preamp that uses a 2 x 7 pin linear voltage reg IC in the power supply. Is there a more graceful approach to attaching the wires to the legs than direct soldering?  Something like break-out boards or through-hole sockets? I don't see them available but I'm honestly not even sure what to call them.

Thanks for your help!!!

Try searching for images of IC Socket. It might be what you want.

Thanks Everyone!

I found this socket that I think will work perfectly if I through-hole mount it onto an insulated board and bend the legs into solder eyelets.

When you buy the chip ask for the socket, the store that sell you the chip may have the socket in stock.
