JVC RX-F10 HELP
« on: 4 May 2005, 11:18 pm »
I have a couple of questions before I make this purchase. If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it. I will be using  this receiver with Athena F-2's,C-1.and AS-R1's 5.1 no sub, Denon 2900, motorola 6200. I know to get the best sound out of the JVC you should use analog so I figure I could also take advantage of the 2900's DAC. My only question is for the 6200, how would I connect to analog and still take advantage of DD for HD material. The only analog hook-ups the 6200 has is for RCA. It looks like my only option would be to use the digital inputs but that is not the best setup with the JVC. Would I be better of getting the Panny digitals?  Any advice or opinions? l

I don't know of a way around the fact that the F10 only has one set of 6ch inputs.  But if you're mainly going to be watching TV/Movies on the 6200 I doubt you will notice much of difference in the inputs.  Except maybe a volume change due to the JVC doing the D/A conversion instead of the 2900.  I would even try both the digital and analog inputs from the 2900 for movies and see which one you prefer.  The analog (In DVD Multi mode) are reported to be better.  But the digital inputs aren't like nails on a chalkboard.

Note: my experience is with an ES1SL, the older brother of the F10.

Hope that helps.

I would bet that the DAC in the JVC is better than the DAC in the 6200. So you should probably have the 6200 hooked up with it's digital out.

Try using the 6200 with the analog outs, then try it with the digital out. That'll tell you how you should hook it up...
