There is The Boston Audio Society, but it really should be renamed to the Boston Appliance Society. They are not the place to go when it comes to DIY.
If you have any questions on audio electronics I may be able to help.

I checked out thier website before and they do not really look like what I am looking for. I am just a rabid music fan that just got into "Mid-High end" audio.

Just an FYI right now I am running Paradigm Studio 60 v3's with a Yamaha rx-777 100/wpc 2channel reciver. Not exactly a power set up but I am really digging it. I am considering up grading to some outlaw m200's and using my reciver as a pre. Not sure though we will see.

I'm actually kind of surprised that there don't seem to be more of us here.

There are certainly enough people interested in hifi equipment to support a number of dealers in the area.   (Not to mention the number of hifi companies have been born in the area)

sts9fan, it sounds like you've got a good start.  What are you using as a source (CD, DVD, phono)?

I attempted to get a few people together over the winter. All of 3 replied.
All I can tell ya is I'd welcome any musically inclined AudioCircle/AA types to have a listen to mine, and I'm always interested in listening to other folks systems as well.

My own system is kinda high-endy, however it took me 40 years to get to the point I'm at.

tubes, solid state, DIY, vintage.......it's all good. The system serves the music.

Best,

Paul

Hey Paul,

Well, let's see if more people reply on this thread.  Maybe it'll work out now that spring has finally taken hold.  :)

By the way - that looks like a really impressive system you have there!

sts9fan - I haven't heard much about that player, but the review on Audioholics seems to be very positive.  Do you find you like DVD-Audio, CD or SACD on it best?

Anyone else interested in some sort of get-together now that it's warmer?

I only have one sacd Dylan "Blonde on Blonde" which I think sounds real good. Generally I like the sound of the player but it has some annoying controls. I really don't know how to compare or describe how it sounds. Also I am not going to throw audio buzz words around trying to sound like I know what I am talking about. I am a firm believer in ABX testing and anyone who is not is trying to hide something.

There are a few of us, I guess. My system is entry level hi-fi. As a teacher, I look for good bargains on used stuff and bang-for-the-buck if I buy new.

My systems would be considered entry level around here. I do my best  :D  but I'm enjoying my new SB3 and loving life.

Let me know if you decide to get together.
I am in S. New Hampshire.
You could come up and listen to some vintage mac stuff, Bozak Concert Grands, a few DIY tube amps etc., the only pair of early 1950's Pakmeko BBC Studio Monitors in the US (quite possibly the world).

I am more of an 'fool than a 'phile at the moment.

Out of the three systems I have, the one that gets the most play these days is my Sony shower radio. It's an audiophiles dream; battery powered, single driver, monophonic system.

Since my main gear is relatively easy to breakdown, I'm happy to bring bits and pieces to a get together if people want some entry level stuff to swap in/out.

To all,

I live around Boston and think it would be interesting to get a group together.  My current setup:

1) NAD 502 CD player
2) NAD C372 integrated amp
3) Linn Index Speakers (soon to be upgraded to VMPS RM40s  :) )

I listen to basically any type of music other than country or rap.  My number one choice is classical symphonic!

Let me know what people think,

John

Guys,

I am indeed now in Holliston, MA (man that still sounds a little weird) and will host a gathering sometime in the next few months as I am still unpacking and getting the house in order.

By the end of the summer (hopefully much sooner) I will have two dedicated spaces (one for two channel and one for HT).

Here is a picture of my old system (except I am using a modified Squeeze Box instead of the modified Sony transport) to give you an idea of what to expect:

I would love to hear those Salks after reading so much about them.

My current system is still very small but its treating me well.

I'd be interested in a GTG, I'm also in So. NH.  Equip is in the systems area.
