Newbie to the group
« on: 2 Dec 2023, 10:07 pm »
I am an aufiophile of over 40 years. I also have a recording studio. I am passionate about the B&W 801 Nautilus being driven into two Classé Omega supplemented by two B&W ASW850 for acoustic balancing. (which serves as a mastering reference when we produce music). At heart, my passion as an audiophile is probably driven by my search of the truth in musical listening. So, in short, I'm an "oldie" newbie.  My main focus here is to search for high-end audio equipment for my own purposes (to collect or to use for myself). Warm regards to all in this community.

To add as a second post, I am looking to repair input connection on the B&W ASW850 Subwoofer.  I heard it was a potential snag in this otherwise superb sub. Does anyone comme across how to repair the input connection?

B&W ASW850. Do any of you know of similar issues in other subs. One member says it's just a quick soldering at the input connection behind the sub.  Any of you have details?

Does this one make it a third posting. Just looking forward to interact with others. Any suggestions as to specific circles I should go with such a specific topic? Help?

Today audiophiles can take vantage from inexpensive and transparent powerful Class D amps and recently with Lii Audio, take vantage from inexpensive big cones full range drivers, this will save a lot of money hence no crossover and no enclosure need.

This is a inexpensive DIY project from a AC member, it have only four(4) parts: Eminence Alpha15A + 4.7mH + Visaton B200 and a MDF baffle.

Other option are the Lii Audio F15 FR driver $399/pair, not each.
Here Decware OB with the Lii Audio F15 driver:

If one have a woodworker is possible try the Lii Audio F15($399/Pair, pair not each) 97dB/8Ω and benign impedance curve suited to OB or Bass Reflex box or the F18($540/pair), no Crossover, no Tweeter beaming, no Phase rotation, no driver sensitivity loss, no Harmonics loss, no Retail price.

If you want a bigger woofer there are 18'' and 21'' from Lii Audio:
