Sonic Impact with Anti-Cables?

Has anyone tried the Paul Speltz Anti-Cables with their SI amp? I have been looking for some thin gauge speaker wire to use with my stock SI and came across these on Audiogon. Looks like they will fit in the tiny spring clips with no problem.

I think these are 12G solid core wire. Rip apart some 12G romex to see how thin and flexible. I'm not saying they won't sound great, just not real flexible. I just recieved some 12G magnet wire and I'm trying to figure out how to terminate it. I've heard of people using much thinner magnet wire.

I have a 4' pair I'd give you if you pay the postage. Nice sounding cables, waaaayyyy too stiff to work with for me, but many others swear on them now....

Those cables will lift your amp up and suspend it in the air! You'll literally need to tie it down, unless you don't mind an airborne amp.

Sounds like good isolation to me....no need for cones or pods...

The Mapleshade cables are pretty thin - they are stiff as well, but nowhere near as strong as the Speltz cables.

I kinda like the idea of suspending the amp with the Anti-cables.

Then won't the amp be a vibration magnet? I don't know much about vibration control and equipment damping, but it seems like leaving the amp suspended in the air will cause it to vibrate with the bass.

Go to Lowes or Menards, etc. and get some Cat5 phone and data cable, plenum grade. Run single strands for the + and - and don't twist them together- keep them seperated.Use the bare wire ends to terminate, no spades , etc. Keep them 8 feet long (not shorter). You won't be disappointed.

To see if you like solid conductor speaker wire, go to Radio Shack and buy their magnet wire pack. There are three spools, the largest being 22 AWG. Burn the coating off the ends, clean with steel wool, stick 'em in. See if you like them. Total coast, about $3.50.
After trying the RS, I unwound a 18 AWG speaker inductor. Better. I'm currently using 22 AWG Neotech ultra-pure Ohno Continuous Cast Copper (UP-OCC). Best so far. My modded T-Amp has binding posts, so size is not an issue. I've used CC 89259 Belden, 47 Labs OTA, solid silver 22 AWG, Cat 5 in various configurations and Goertz MI II, among others. The Neotech is my preference.

No, you shouldn't. The ACs bend QUITE nicely and stay bent until you unbend them. They'll easily bend to a 1" diameter circle. I hope Wind Chaser was jsut trying to be funny. Agreed. I started with a set made from 20 AWG solid core hook up wire from Radio Shack and thought the sound was good. The Cat5 from Home Depot is better. Using single strands from the cable, I'm running my De Capos biwired and biamped (one amp for each speaker, one side of the amp going to the upper terminals, one to the lower) and I continue to be amazed at how open and detailed the sound is.

My question now is whether anyone knows of any plenum rated Cat5 that comes in a more neutral color (white/beige) than the blue stuff from HD (still trying to keep the wife smiling through all of this).

I actually have both. That being said I have had trouble fitting the cables into the SI as the speaker cable inputs are incredibly small....I finally settled on the Radio Shack magnet wire and have enjoyed the results driving a pair of Omega Super 3Rs.

I'll glad relieve you of those painful Anti-Cables and pay for the postage. I use monoblocks and want to create a very short pair of speaker cables. If you send them to me, I would likely cut them to about 3'.

If you don't want them and don't mind someone experimenting with them, let me know. I can PM you with my mailing address and send you some $ for mailing.

Thanks for the info, guys. I think I will start off with the RS magnet wire and see how that does. For the low cost, it's sure worth a try.
