can any owners or people who have listened to these speakers comment on them?  They seem pretty impressive with the 60" ribbon and the 4 12" subs.  Thanks in advance for the input.

I have only heard a couple Carver planars many years ago.  They can be found at great prices, but the ribbons deteriorate over time and have to be replaced.  This can be a hassle.  They are very tempting at the prices but I have stayed away from the temptation.  There is a fella in Florida that will replace the ribbons.

I really loved all the Carver AL's that I've heard, but I admit it's been many years.  I thought the Platinums were fantastic, but of course that was much earlier in my audio formative years!   I really thought the AL III's were something special: they combined a near-full-range ribbon with a 10" woof in a sealed box.  I never heard them with any hard rock or heavy classical, but they gave me goosebumps with female vocals and acoustic music.  Hell, though, even that was ten years back.

I remember the date now because Floyd's "Momentary Lapse of Reason" was the cd I was listening to...."The boat song" as the salesman called it.  they were the big black ones driven by a pair of silver7's or 9's.  Not sure which but it was of that design.  I didn't move much as I just listened to as long as I could before he came back to turn it down.
