New piece in Pogue-land...
« on: 29 Apr 2005, 04:25 pm »
Looks like tommorrow I'll have a new set of ML's in the house...I'm picking up a full set of HT speaks....Prodigy's up front, theather center and scripts for rears...I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the center and rears because I'm really only into 2 channel....but we'll see. As far and the Prodigy's I'm going to listen to them in my room which is wayyyy too small (the best I can do for now is 10' from the listening position and 9' apart but nowhere near enough room on the sides nor the rear) and I'll see how it goes...then if I decide to keep 'em I'll be selling my Pdigms 100's...(maybe to me brother in Cal if I can talk him into it I hope to have them crankin by tomorrow night and I'll keep ya'll up-to-date on how it's all working out....fun fun fun....

Peace, Pogue

Very cool!  I am a ML fan on Jazz and vocals but the last time I heard a pair of Prodegys on rock they seemed to lack dynamics and sounded a bit bright.  Could have been the room, it was a guy's house with very little room treatments.  I was delivering a subwoofer I sold to the owner of the ML's.    I don't recall the amp or the preamp but he had a really nice Theta transport and DAC.

Vocals had that spooky "big" quality that I enjoyed and the soundstage for the jazz tracks the guy played sounded.  The rock music was played louder than I usually listen but it just didn't sound right.  Dynamics were flattened out.  Could have been the amp clipping.  Everything else was very cool.

Keep us posted and best of luck.

I tried to delete my post right after I sent it but my computer was acting very funny.  I didn't want to pee in your punchbowl because I really like ML speakers.  They also look really cool.

Best of luck, please keep us posted!

Do you all have any opinions of the sound of their newer "entry-level" speakers like Mosaic or Montage?

The Montage was just reviewed in Stereophile and it was a "mixed" verdict but I never know whether to trust those folks completely.

I realize these aren't technically electrostatic models but if they carry the Martin-Logan name, they must be within a "family of sound?" Or not?

I haven't auditioned any ML speakers but have heard good things about them.

audio as an addiction?  no way!!!

I could stop any time I want to!  at least that's what I'm guessing.  It's not like I've actually tried to stop yet ;)

Congrats on the new speakers...always a blast! I've not listened to the Prodigy's but will guess you will find many strong points to love about them.

As an Apogee speaker user (two pair) I at one time lusted for a pair of CLS's but restricted dynamic range kept me away at that time.

I like ML speakers along with Maggies and of course my beloved Apogees!

Enjoy, Dave

I always feel like I just gave birth...lol....when I give/recieve congrats on new stuff...I think its funny when the same thing happends when a persons fav sports teams win...you know...all the congrats and all....lol...whadda country...lol

nice as always ta see me fishin' brudda!! and thanks fer the good words flinstone....

as far as powering them I've got a set of Adcom 555 II's (for now) someday I'll upgrade but for now they'll do. My biggest struggle here will be the smallish room I'm going to be in for the next year or so...my listening postion is 10' away and the speaks will be 9' apart which is not totally bad...but it's the room on the sides and rear that concern me...but I'll play wiff 'em and get the best I can...then take it from there..

Peace, Pogue
