any thoughts on this amp or other belles products? are they in the same league as some of the big time names ( krell, classe, bryston)?

I have the Belles 21A pre and it is definitely a competitor with the "big" name pre's.  Just an excellent all around pre, and I can mod it with Auricaps when I'm ready.

I have stopped looking for pre's now that I have the Belles.

Marvda1,

I admit I am not familiar with the specific preamp you are referring to, but count me as one of those who believes Belles is a bit higher on the food chain than any of the other three companies you mentioned.

But this is my opinion only,

Overkill Audio uses the 150A Reference for its $75,000 Encore system.  They charge $8k extra for a four channel version of this amp.  Not a bad endorsement at all.  I think it has one of the fastest slew rates of any amplifier, if not the fastest.

If you're looking for a smoking deal on the Belles, you can get two separate  150A Ref in one chassis (sharing only the power cord) for a great price here

It also has several upgrades, including internal Crystal Cable wiring.  The seller is the former Overkill distributor for the USA (and the current Crystal Cable distributor) and trust me he is MOTIVATED.

The new Overkill systems are using two separate 150A instead of the single chassis version.  So this may be a unique piece but will still be serviced & repaired by Belles / Powermodules.

PS -- I think this amp can also be operated as a bridged two channel stereo amp with enormous power.

"The new Overkill systems are using two separate 150A instead of the single chassis version."

This is a perfect example of why one-of-a-kind, special request items are hard items to re-sell. I feel for the original owner, but the real-deal, factory 150A Reference monos are always going to be in demand over the specialty item. Why, after all, is Overkill now using the two chassis 150A Reference monos if this one chassis unit was so spectacular?
