New member - short intro
« on: 11 Aug 2023, 12:17 pm »
Hi all!
Finally picking up my old hobby again … after a few concerts and buying vinyl again looking to improve the audio experience at home. An interesting journey has presented itself.
Currently I’m checking out Nuprime AMG. This brought me here.
Looking forward to the discussion, getting wiser and contribute if possible.
Best regards, Atze

  • To whom more was given more will be required.

Welcome to AC.

Nuprime produces some great amps. I own the Evo STA and an integrated amp.

Hi Atze. As a fellow new member, I should create my own string, but your backstory sounds very close to mine at the moment--finally getting to dust off my vinyl LPs and equipment while going to as many concerts as I can manage and enjoy! Except the Nuprime part.  On my end, I would like to hear any suggestions for a modest cost DAC unit though--nothing exotic, just good value and sound.  Also, I'm from the DMV for those who know where that is!

DMV?  Department of Motor Vehicles?

One DAC you might consider looking at is the Gustard x16.  It can be had used for about $350-$400.  I think it sounds very good, and it also measures well.  Works as a pre-amp too.

Best of luck!

Department of Motor Vehicles--it does work, but its actually shorthand for "District of Columbia/Maryland/Virginia." Used all the time now by those living in the DC region...  Appreciate the suggest on the Gustard DAC. May fit the bill in sound and price--will check it out!

Ah, I'm far away from that area of the country so the closest I'm familiar with is the office of the DMV down the street from me!

Let us all know what DAC you end up with!

Topping makes DAC's that are inexpensive and measure very well.  The $229 RD3 has just been released.
