Hello, i am a new member with a dead Dynaco Mark III tube amplifier. Many years ago when my amp died the retailer told me the rectifier tube needed to be replaced and that they did not have another one in stock. The quickest and best thing to do, they said, was to change the amp to solid state rectification. The modification made the high notes more harsh to my ears and the amp mod. eventually caused enough heat to melt or damage the insulation on the amp's wires so that the fuse blew. Now I want to start using the amp again. Should I attempt to change the wiring back myself or try to find someone to do it for me? I am not an electrician or electronics tech.
