Thanks Fullrange..

This is the first time I heard this.

I hate to question FullRangeMan, But does his statement ring true with any body else's  experience.?

No prob  :thumb:
A tube amp builder that I dont remember anymore who was made this test.
The 12AX7 is a low output tube.
Only 0.5mA plate current in serie and 1.2mA in parallel.
Max plate dissipation only 1.2W.

Not 100% sure what FRM is actually trying to say.....

Nor what your interpretation of his comment is....

But he used a double negative, so his actual meaning is that the 12ax7 can drive a 1m cable.

He didn't answer the original question.

My old Pioneer turntable is positioned on a little table, while the ADL phono/pre-amp is on the desk. I had to jerry-rig to extend the rca's and ground. It's only a six foot cable with some scrap wire. How long is considered too long to do this?

An old Pioneer automatic turntable with a basic Audio Technica headshell is good enough to listen on my headphones. I had to extend the rca's and ground due to the setup. It's under 10 feet (more like 8 or 9).

How long would be consider too long to do this?

I mean say the 12AX7 can not drive 1 metre interconnect, according the site I have read that was a 12AX7 small review.

In my experience in my room and in the friends systems I could say the limit are 1.5 to 2 metre IMO for a proper audiophile SQ.

However the recommendation may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, they have usage suggestions regarding length(but not online on the site), they all will be pleased to charge you more a thousand dollars for an extra meter.
